Colonia de Sant Jordi is an old fishermen's harbour which belongs to the municipality of Ses Salines and whose name is due precisely to the ancient salt mines of this locality which were already used by the Romans as well as later by the Phoenicians in the year 600 B.C. in which its pink salt lagoons (due to the salt accumulation) were used by the Romans.
